A sudden planned flashed on lazy saturday at 11AM, and by 1.30 PM all of gathered at majestic and started heading to Lepakshi Temple, Initially we planned to visit Shettihalli- A submerged Chruch in hassan since springs was very good this year, possibilities of church fully covered in water, that headed us to lepakshi.

The temple is of Vijayanagara architectural style and was built in the 16th century. The presiding deity is Veerabhadra. The intricate mandapams of the temple has large pillars with life-size images of dancers, musicians and other sculptures, created by the artisans of the Vijayanagar empire. A huge granite Nandi bull, carved out of a single stone is also present near the temple. The ceilings are decorated by mural paintings.
There are three temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Virabhadra. On a hillock known as Kurma Saila (tortoise shaped hill), temples of 'Papanatheswara', 'Raghunatha', 'Srirama', 'Veerabhadra' and 'Durga' are located. Veerabhadra temple is the most important temple.
Temple has several carvings of Mahabharata, Ramayana etc.

Rumuors/ Gossips/ Facts left to each perceptions :
1. HANGING PILLAR: Right now a small portion of pillar is touching the base. Guides tells that British government wanted to know the beauty/secret of pillar so they tried shuddering as soon as they did whole temple pillars started shuddering. Even now we can see many pillars have turned their position.
2. Paintings on the Roofs: Itseems its asia's Largest or oldest painting on the roof. Not sure its is oil painting.

Hats of to the Vishwakarma Brahmins who sculpted these temples.

“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” – Bill Bryson
